It was huge and powerful, hissing and puffing, and I felt a mix of awe and fear. My dad bought us tickets, and we climbed aboard. The trains whistle blew, and we started moving. He talked about how trains used to be the lifeblood of towns, bringing people and goods together. I listened, fascinated, and proud of my town's history. It made me proud to be from Poway and instilled in me a love for our local heritage. Now, whenever I see the train or hear its whistle, it takes me back to that day. It reminds me of where I come from and why I love Poway so much. Poway isn’t just a place it’s a part of who I am.
